Sheath
A sheath shaped wedding dress is straight and slim and is perfect for a rectangle body shape. It’s an elegant and chic shape that looks beautiful in a simple plain fabric or detailed with lace. This shape is probably the least versatile when it comes to the types of body shapes it will suit, however with the right detailing it could also suit an hourglass-shaped body. 3403 by Allure Romance is a romantic sheath lace dress with a delicate illusion back and lace appliqué details. It’s both simple and modern and features a sexy low back detail and buttoned train.
Fit and Flare
With a fitted bodice and looser fitting skirt, a fit and flare wedding dress is similar but less harsh than a fishtail. It hugs the waist and flares out from mid-hip and is perfect for an hourglass or triangle body shape. It can, however, also add curves to a rectangle shape too so it’s a very versatile dress shape. Baxley by Maggie Sottero is a sexy fit and flare dress with beautiful lace details that cover the bodice and extend down the hips. It’s a romantic backless wedding dress with dainty spaghetti straps and an illusion train.
Fishtail
The fishtail gown definitely has sex appeal when it comes to wedding dress shapes. It suits, rectangle, hourglass and triangle body shapes perfectly and it hugs in all the right places. With a fitted bodice from bust to knee where it flares out with a dramatic effect. Shoshanna by Morilee is a stunning fishtail wedding dress that features frosted lace appliques that cover the gown. In addition, it has a classic sweetheart neckline with satin trim and is finished beautifully with a scalloped edge hemline.
A-line
Featuring a fitted bodice and a softly flared skirt, an A-line wedding dress will suit all body types. It’s particularly flattering on an inverted triangle body type as its wider skirt shape balances out the shoulders. It’s a popular choice and is a classic bridal look that’s full of romantic vibes. A-line gown 3461 by Allure Romance is a gorgeous boho off-the-shoulder design with beautiful rose lace appliqués that adorn the bodice and trail down the soft tulle skirt. The sweeping train oozes romance and it features full buttons from top to bottom.
Ballgown
As versatile as it comes the ballgown wedding dress suits every body shape. If you’re looking for a classic princess look or are looking to add drama to your day then this wedding dress is the way to do it. It’s classic timeless and elegant with a fitted bodice that flares out dramatically from the waist down. Amy by Mori Lee is a simple and stunning ballgown wedding day look. It features a net neckline inset at the centre front in addition to covered buttons that trim the skirt to the hemline. Finally, a romantic detachable bow frames the open back and completes the look.
